HYBRID TRAINING
Our HYBRID TRAINING CLASS refers to a structured workout session focussed around the fitness racing competition format. The global fitness event has taken the world by storm — combining running with functional fitness exercises, and classes typically prepare participants for the actual competition or build general fitness following its principles.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s involved in a our ‘Hybrid Training’ class:
STRUCTURE OF A CLASS
RUNNING INTERVALS: In competition, participants complete 8 rounds of 1km runs interspersed with functional exercises. A class will often have similar intervals, training you to build endurance and improve pace.
FUNCTIONAL WORKOUTS: Between each run (or cardio option if you can’t run), there are set exercises, such as:
Row Erg or Ski Erg (a machine mimicking cross-country skiing)
Burpee Broad Jumps
Farmer’s Carry (carrying weights in each hand)
Sandbag Lunges
Wall Balls (squatting and throwing a weighted ball at a target on the wall)
Each class typically focuses on improving speed, strength, and technique for these specific moves.
class focus areas
ENDURANCE: Significant cardiovascular fitness is required for these events — so classes work on building stamina.
STRENGTH AND POWER: Exercises like sandbag lunges, wall balls, and farmer’s carry help build strength, especially in the legs, core, and upper body.
TECHNIQUE AND EFFICIENCY: In a class, you’ll often get coached on form to help maximise performance, efficiency and avoid injury.
STRUCTURE OF A CLASS:
SCALABLE DIFFICULTY: Our classes are structured to be scalable for all fitness levels. Everyone can adjust weights, modify movements, or reduce run distances based on ability.
COMPETITIVE vs. CASUAL PARTICIPATION: Some join for competition training, while others simply want a structured, high-intensity workout.
BEnefits of our fitness racing class
IMPROVED CARDIO AND FUNCTIONAL STRENGTH: This hybrid format builds both aerobic capacity and full-body functional strength.
GOAL-ORIENTATED TRAINING: For those aiming to compete, it offers specific, targeted training.
COMMUNITY AND MOTIVATION: Many enjoy the supportive, competitive environment of group training.
Whether or not you’re planning to compete or not, our fitness racing class is a dynamic way to build balanced fitness, combining endurance, strength, and agility specifically focussed around this specific event/sport.
